My journey
The journey that inspired Pathwai.
01Doing the work
First, you have to be able to ball.
Before any coach email, there was the work: early sessions, late sessions, extra touches when nobody was watching. No amount of outreach makes up for a player who isn’t ready.
02Proving my game
Film and stats that spoke for themselves.
I needed footage that showed I could play. I racked up goals and assists, dominated local academy showcases, and built a highlight reel that gave coaches a reason to watch.
03Reaching out
Volume and consistency changed everything.
Coaches can’t recruit a player they’ve never heard from, so I ran recruiting like a campaign: personal emails to the right programs, steady follow-ups, every reply tracked. Most nights it was me, my family, and a laptop.
04Hearing back
One reply became a full ride offer.
A Holy Cross coach replied, came to watch me play, and invited me to camp. I earned Camp MVP and left no doubt I belonged. That same day, they spoke with my dad and offered me a full ride.
05Signing day
Making it official.
I signed my full ride to Holy Cross to play NCAA Division I soccer. The work on the field and the nights reaching out with my family had led to this moment. Now it was time to take the next step.
06Freshman season
High school to D1. A whole new game.
Going from high school to D1 meant adjusting to a faster, more physical game against grown men. I scored in one of my first games at Holy Cross, found my rhythm, and settled into college soccer.
07The next chapter
Holy Cross, then Bryant.
After my first year, I transferred to Bryant University for its renowned business program and my ambitions beyond soccer.
08Making my mark
Making an impact right away.
At Bryant, I became one of the team’s top goalscorers and playmakers. I was scoring goals, creating chances, and making my mark in college soccer.
09The turnaround
A team that changed the program.
We reached the conference finals for the first time in nearly a decade, helping set a turnaround in motion. The school’s program kept building. In 2025, Bryant finished No. 10 in the national men’s Division I coaches’ poll and reached the third round of the NCAA tournament.

I knew players better than me who said exactly that when I asked about reaching out to coaches. So many of them fell through the cracks: not because they weren’t good enough, but because no coach knew they existed.
Unless you’re on a youth national team or in an MLS academy, coaches won’t come looking for you. You have to put yourself in front of them.
